This 7 Days Best of Uganda Safari takes you to Murchison falls for spectacular game viewing and the incredible water falls, proceed to Kibale forest for Chimpanzee tracking, enjoy more game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Gorilla trekking in Bwindi leaving you with unforgettable memories of the pearl of Africa.
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
You will be picked from Entebbe airport or your hotel in Entebbe / Kampala and transfer to Murchison falls national park; a 3-4 hours’ drive via Masindi.
You will have lunch en-route and proceed entering the park through Kichumbanyobo gate, visit the top of the falls and continue to the lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Pakuba Safari Lodge.
Day 2: Game drive and Boat cruise at the bottom of the falls
Early morning after breakfast at your lodge, embark on a morning game drive in the northern part of the park to the delta. This is where you may spot various animal species like elephants, giraffes, lions, hyenas, cape buffaloes, leopards (on a lucky day), and different species of antelopes including the Uganda Kobs, Jackson hartebeest, Oribi, waterbucks among others. After the game drive, return to your lodge to refresh and have lunch.
In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise to see the magnificent Falls along River Nile. Cruising along the bottom of the falls will expose you to the park’s streaming hippo and serried ranges of crocodile along the sandbanks, different bird species and large numbers of different species getting down to drink & bathe.
After viewing the falls, hike up to the top of the falls through Bakers trail and also be able to view the falls on Bakers stone. On this hike, you will be able to view the falls on different viewpoints and finally spend some quality time observing the falls from the top. Later in the evening, meet your driver and return to Pakuba Safari Lodge as above.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After early morning breakfast, meet your driver / guide and cross the 7 am ferry for a transfer to Kibale forest national park in the western part of the country. This is a full day drive with lunch en route. Arrive late afternoon and connect to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Chimpundu Lodge.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Have breakfast very early and later transfer to the park head office for a briefing about the endangered chimpanzees and later enter the forest with the guidance of a park ranger along with your tracking gears, packed water and snacks.
Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa with 13 species of primate where chimpanzees are the most visited. This tracking takes about 2-5 hours in search of the chimpanzees. On finding the primates, you will spend 1 hour viewing then while studying their behavior and taking pictures.
In the afternoon after lunch, you will drive for about 3 hours to reach Queen Elizabeth national park, en route at the Equator and the crater lakes exploration. Later connect to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Buffalo Safari Lodge
Day 5: Morning game drive and boat cruise and transfer to Bwindi
After early breakfast, embank on morning game drive in the Kasenyi region. While on the game drive, expect to see the big four game including antelopes, giraffes, warthogs and white Colobus monkeys just to mention but a few.
Later connect for the 11 am launch cruise along Kazinga channel where you will get an opportunity to see a number of bird species, Elephants and buffalos, hippos and crocodiles at the lake shores.
After both activities, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable national park, dinner and overnight stay at Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking experience.
Have breakfast and transfer you to park offices for briefing about Mountain Gorilla trekking by a local guide. The time taken is usually between 2-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Meeting the gorillas unexpectedly is one of the most captivating lifetime experiences.
You will have a chance to observe and take pictures at very close range. You will observe adults feeding and grooming among themselves.
After an hour with the long-awaited gorillas, your guide and rangers will lead you back to the starting point where your driver will readily be waiting to transfer you back to Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge for a restful evening.
Day 7: Transfer to Entebbe & Departure
After early morning breakfast, you embark on your journey back to Entebbe with En route lunch in Mbarara and a stopover at the Equator along Masaka road. This is an 8-9 hours’ drive from Bwindi Park.
The driver will either transfer you to your booked hotel or proceed to Entebbe airport to catch your evening flight back home.
