Lake Mburo Safari – “Whispers of the Wild”
Lake Mburo Safari, “Whispers of the Wild,” is one of the most serene national parks in Uganda and is endowed with the largest herd of zebras among all Ugandan national parks. It is the only park in Uganda where you can embark on a horseback safari — riding on horseback while viewing wildlife. Other unique alternatives include bush biking and walking safaris, all besides the traditional game drive.
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Pick up from Entebbe Airport, your hotel, or any other agreed place in Kampala/Entebbe in the morning and drive to Lake Mburo National Park. The park is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks and is underlain by ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks that date back more than 500 million years.
On your journey, you will make a stopover at the Equator in a place called Kayabwe, where you will witness the experiment and take photos for remembrance. Proceed to Lake Mburo, arriving mid-morning.
Check in to the lodge and enjoy lunch. You will conduct an evening game drive and later return to your lodge for relaxation at Rwakobo Rock for mid-range or Mihingo Lodge for luxury.
Mihingo Lodge is situated on a series of rock outcrops on the boundary of the park, with views of Lake Opeta. Each of the accommodations is very private and beautifully sited. The lodge has a gorgeous infinity pool, while the dining room overlooks a man-made waterhole that draws in game, including, on occasions, Eland antelope.
Overnight: Mihingo Lodge or Rwakobo Rock
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 2: Full Day in Lake Mburo National Park
Early in the morning, head out for bush biking. Do not forget to carry your camera in order to keep all your memories forever intact and also to ensure you do not miss out on a detail of your amazing trip.
Depending on how long you would like this activity to last, you could also choose to conduct an optional walking safari in the park.
Return to the lodge for lunch and later go for a relaxing and experiential boat cruise on the lake. Return in the evening to prepare for dinner.
Overnight: Mihingo Lodge or Rwakobo Rock
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 3: Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe
You will have a morning game drive to further explore Lake Mburo National Park. After the game drive, you will embark on your journey back to Kampala.
En route, you will pass the Equator, where you will have a coffee break and take amazing pictures. Proceed to Entebbe and drop off at the airport for your onward flight, marking the end of the safari.
