Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Your driver/guide will pick you up from Entebbe International Airport or your hotel and start your journey to western Uganda, driving along the Kampala–Fort Portal Road.
The journey takes you through the countryside of central and western Uganda, with opportunities for scenic views and stopovers along the way. Depending on your arrival time and the condition of the roads, you can have lunch around Fort Portal and visit attractions such as the Amabere Caves and stalagmites and the nearby crater lakes.
You will then continue to Kibale National Park and connect to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park
After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for registration and a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority park guides.
After the briefing, you will enter Kibale Forest for your chimpanzee trekking experience. Your experienced guide and trackers will follow signs of the chimpanzees, including calls, nests, feeding activity and movement through the forest, until the chimpanzees are located.
Along the trek, the guides will explain the different tree species, herbs, plants, and other aspects of Kibale’s forest ecosystem.
Chimpanzees are the main attraction, but Kibale is also home to a remarkable variety of other primates. Depending on the location and conditions, you may encounter L’Hoest’s monkeys, olive baboons, black-and-white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, red colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and potto. Other wildlife found in the park includes forest elephants and giant forest hogs.
After the trek, you will meet your driver and return to the lodge for lunch.
Bigodi Wetland Nature Walk
After lunch, you can visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk. Located just outside Kibale National Park, Bigodi is particularly popular with bird watchers and nature lovers.
The area offers opportunities to see a variety of birds, primates, butterflies and other wetland wildlife. Kibale itself supports approximately 370 bird species, while Bigodi provides additional opportunities to explore forest-edge and wetland species.
