- How long in advance should I book the permits?
Considering the lower prices offered in comparison to the normal cost, it is advisable to book at least 3 months before your intended date of visiting because they are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and can be booked out quickly. You need to book at least 6 months in advance if you are planning to do the trek in December because it always has high demand.
- How many permits can an individual purchase?
Each individual is entitled to only 1 discounted permit, and each permit allows you to visit the Gorillas once. If you intend to see the Gorillas more than once, you will purchase the next permit at the normal cost of $1,500.
- Are these permits refundable?
Yes, the discounted permits are refundable, but there are terms and conditions. If you go on the trek the whole day and you are not able to encounter the Gorillas because of their movement, you will be given another opportunity to try the next day, or you will get back all your money back – a full refund.
If you are unable to see the gorillas for a reason other than their movement, you will be offered a 75% refund.
If you miss out on the trek because of late arrival or flight delay, it will be considered a no-show, and there will be no refund at all.
